According to The Real Deal, South Florida Real Estate News website, the Boca Raton City Council has reached the decision to replace the landfill at Southwest 18th Street and Dixie Highway with a brand new park. The council initially embarked on this mission back in 1988, and the project will now finally come to fruition.
The park will be called Hillsboro El Rio Park, and it’s 10 acres will consist of playgrounds, a fitness trail, picnic pavilions, and even a boat ramp into the El Rio Canal. This park will obviously be very close to Boca Raton neighborhoods such as Palm Beach Farms, Camino Lakes, Camino Gardens, Carriage Hill, Estoville, Royal Palm, and Boca Raton Square.
The land right now is littered with trash and outlined with a chain-link fence that looks horrible and denies public access. The city council is currently looking for the right architect for the job.
