Hurricanes and Homeowners Insurance

According to, the state run Citizens Property Insurance Corp.  represents approximately 600,000 Florida residents.  Citizens is reaching out to their insurers and homeowners to remind them to keep all pertinent homeowner insurance paperwork in a waterproof place.  If the National Hurricane Center is right, tropical storm Erika could turn into a hurricane and affect Palm Beach County by Monday of next week.

If you look at the projected path, it looks like Erika will most likely head North along the Florida coast rather than a direct hit on Boca Raton or some other Palm Beach County city.  If it does stay South, maybe the Bahamas will break the storm apart a little and decrease the wind speed.  Either way, we should have some fairly nasty weather next week.  I bet real estate transactions will be few and far between until later in the week.
